One Battle grabs Best Picture

The International Catholic Film Critics Association has announced the winners for its Catholic Film Critics Awards 2025, with One Battle After Another taking Best Picture.

Wake Up Dead Man was recognized with the Human and Gospel Values Award, the group’s next highest honor.

It was a very spread-out dispersal of awards this season. Paul Thomas Anderson and Sean Penn also won for One Battle After Another, in the directing and supporting actor categories. It was the only film with as many as three wins.

Blue Moon placed second with two awards, for actor (Ethan Hawke) and for screenplay (Robert Kaplow).

One Battle After Another had led coming into awards day with seven nominations. Sentimental Value and Sinners were the next most-nominated films, grabbing six nods each.

F1, Frankenstein, and Hamnet had five nominations, including for Best Picture. F1 eventually took home the awards for Best Score, and Hamnet for Best Actress.

Voting opened on January 20 and closed a week later. The membership opened final voting on March 4, and it concluded on March 11.
