There are two ways to become a part of Catholic Film Critics. One is by executive invitation by the membership.
The second requires an application. Each year there are periods during which critics may apply to become members. The ICFCA then determines which applicants, if any, will be offered membership.
Our standards for excellence never diminish. We look for the following:
Writers or presenters who identify as Catholic
Critics with a consistent output of professional film criticism, which can take many forms, such as traditional reviews, essays that examine themes, social commentary, or analysis of filmmaking craft.
Those who write for a publication, review for radio or TV, run their own site, or publish academically.
Critics who value criticism as a means of evaluating a film’s artistic value and providing insight into the deeper questions a film poses. Because of this, their work resonates with a wide audience, even if reviewing for a religious publication.
International presence and diverse voices.
If you feel you fit these criteria and would like to join Catholic Film Critics, our next application window will open soon.
